So the film was FINALLY complete and the big day finally arrived! A very exciting launch in the morning of April 6th with some of our students introducing the film. The audience included Federal Member for Boothby Dr Andrew Southcott, Liberal candidate Nicolle Flint, Mayor of Mitcham Glenn Spear, CLG RSL President Hank Dirksen, Mitcham Local History Coordinator Therese Willis, Flinders University Dean of Humanities and Creative Arts Professor Diana Glenn, retired Uni SA Professor of Communication and Writing Claire Woods, and family and friends. After recess our classes started coming through, enjoying the film with members of the 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment from Edinburgh. The children loved seeing themselves and their friends on the huge screen, with plenty of giggles along the way. Henry’s animations were a big hit, especially the singing horse!
After school our community screenings began, with around 350 people attending. We sold quite a few gorgeous commemorative pennies, and copies of the DVD. There are more available through the front office.
Additional photos thanks to Dr Southcott and Nicolle Flint, and Simone and Helen. Thanks also to Jenny for helping out all day, and Kelly for helping in the evening.
