All over Colonel Light Gardens, now concealed by our school, parks, streets and houses is the former Mitcham Camp site. Room 16 followed a present-day map overlaid with a camp plan, kindly provided by Philip Knight, CLG Historical Society. Walking from school, the students found the sites of the Light Horse, accommodation huts, Headquarters, hospital, YMCA, training trenches and even the latrines, which were in front of our very own Mortlock building! No wonder the trees grow so well there!
